STEMSpring Academy, a K-5 Microschool, is inspired by Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEMSpring Academy scholars thrive as scientifically literate and empowered thinkers. Through scholar-centered learning experiences, we nuture agency…because scholar choice and voice matter. We emphasize curiosity, high achievement, joy for learning, and character…because being kind matters. We believe strong family and school partnerships enhance our scholars’ educational journey…because together…our children succeed.

INQUIRY. DISCOVERY. JOY.

STEM Focus

STEMSpring Academy inspires our scholars’ love of STEM through hands-on, creative, and experimental approaches to learning. We emphasize project-based learning, innovation, and design thinking. Our STEM curriculum and daily learning experiences are organized into STEM learning blocks. The STEM learning blocks provide multiple opportunities for our scholars to develop and apply their content knowledge and in each of the domains of science, technology, engineering, and math.

Voice and Choice

STEMSpring Academy scholars engage in both structured and personalized learning experiences. When our teachers design curated lessons, scholar choice and voice are incorporated. When scholars engage in self-selected inquiry and discovery, they are becoming empowered thinkers and learners.

Our Learning Space

We believe that the learning space is our children’s third teacher: 1-The Parent, 2-The Instructor, 3-The Space. Flexible seating, lounge and maker spaces, plants, and neutral tones create a peaceful and joy-filled learning environment for the children and adults at our school. Small by design, our school will only serve 60 scholars at capacity.

Our Approach and School Design

STEMSpring Academy K-5 Microschool, provides young scholars with an opportunity to learn about STEM at an early age.  The cornerstone of STEMSpring Academy is our elevated Science curriculum. Scholars engage in STEM learning experiences no fewer than 90 minutes per day. Through critical thinking and inquiry based learning, our scholars grow as learners, researchers, scientists, techies, engineers, and mathematicians.  Reading and Language Arts round out our curriculum, as these content areas are the foundation for any learning. We know that scholars must be exposed early to STEM to build their skills and confidence in areas that may seem too challenging by middle and high school.

Scholars engage in daily learning experiences based on their interests

STEMSpring Academy offers structured and self-directed learning experiences. We curate lessons with the belief that our scholars’ needs and goals are the first consideration. Through both scholar-centered and scholar-directed learning experiences, STEMSpring Academy scholars will progressively assume a larger share of responsibility for conducting inquiries, applying knowledge, and making meaning of what they have learned.

STEMSpring Academy scholars work together to design solutions

While developing their proficiencies in the domains of STEM, reading, and social science, STEMSpring Academy scholars also develop an understanding of how positive self-concept, character(because kindness matters), and their agency as scholars, researchers, and scientists impact how they can maintain or transform our world.  In addition, learning how to work collaboratively is a key component of our school design. Our scholars’ positive view of self and others, capacity to work with peers, as well as their developing knowledge and skills related to problem solving, strenghtens our scholars as they embark on their journey to reach their full potential, lead meaningful lives, and contribute to our communities.
